Before Bruce Lee, there was Yip Man
Wing Chun tells the true story of martial artist and prestigious Grandmaster Yip Man and his influence on the legendary art of Wing Chun, from its 300 year old origins in China to its explosion across the rest of the world, and his most famous student Bruce Lee. This highly acclaimed, multi award-winning, dance drama follows a film crew as they shoot the story of Yip Man, spanning the ‘then’ and ‘now’ through two eras, two worlds, two generations of people chasing their dreams.
Wing Chun has broken Chinese box office records and features a unique oriental aesthetic that encompasses Wing Chun, Tai Chi, Bagua Zhang, Baji Quan, Praying Mantis and other Chinese martial arts masterpieces.
This legendary production, hailed as “a masterful representation of the Chinese martial arts and the ancient philosophies and wisdom behind them”, is a visually stunning fusion of martial arts and dance that is not to be missed.

Chief Director and Choreographer
Han Zhen is a postgraduate advisor of Beijing Dance Academy, and joined China Oriental Song and Dance Troupe in 2019. She was awarded the 14th Wenhua Director Award, “Best Choreographer” of the 6th CCTV Dance Competition. Her works have won the Wenhua Grand Award and the “Five One Project” Award three times in a row, Lotus Award for Dance Drama twice in a row, and were listed for the National Programme for Excellent Stage Art twice. Many of her works have been widely performed overseas, including the Sydney Opera House, the European Union Headquarters, the United Nations Headquarters, the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. Notable dance drama under her direction include The Journey of a Legendary Landscape Painting, Wing Chun, The Eternal Waves, Mulan, The Past of Shawan, Du Fu, etc. The Journey of a Legendary Landscape Painting has been mentioned in White Paper “Youth of China in the New Era” published by the State Council Information Office of China.
ZHOU LIYA

Graduated from the Department of Choreography at the Beijing Dance Academy, Zhou Liya serves as a choreographer-director at the China Oriental Song and Dance Troupe. She is among the “Excellent Experts” certified by the Ministr y of Culture and Tourism, and was awarded the 13th and 14th Wenhua Director Prize. Her works have won the 13th to 16th Wenhua Grand Award, the 10th and 11th Lotus Award for Dance Drama, the 13th to 15th “Five One Project” Award. Many of her works were listed in the National Programme for Excellent Stage Art, and have been widely performed overseas, including the Sydney Opera House, the European Union Headquarters, the United Nations Headquarters, the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.
